This course offers an advanced education that gives a broad overview on nutritional topics, the influence of nutrition on health, and its potential for prevention of diseases.

The course is in form of lectures, practical work, case studies, seminars and exercises. Teaching is concentrated on Thursdays for fall semester, and on Fridays for spring semester.

Successful students receive the title „Certificate of Advanced Studies ETH in Nutrition for Disease Prevention and Health (CAS ETH Nutrition)“.

Job description and target group

CAS ETH Nutrition graduates are trained to distinguish and understand problems of nutrition while continuing to work in the field of expertise. This includes food industry, pharmacies, medicine, nutrition teaching, and nutrition research.

Admission/Entrance requirements


  • CHF 4'080 for the complete programme
  • CHF 50/150 registration fee.

Master's degree in natural sciences acknowledged by ETH or equivalent qualification.

In the spring and the autumn semester

Programme duration:
Part-time study during 2 semesters (1/2 - 1 day per week). Ca. 300 hours including lectures, preparation time and exams.
