The MPTS is awarded 120 ECTS and runs over two academic years. The master course has a modular structure and is organized in four semesters. The first semester introduces the student to basic sciences and is regarded as the common module for both MPTS and EBMT.
In the second semester, the MPTS course will provide the student with skills to assess and evaluate physiotherapy outcomes, advanced research methods and techniques, which enhance academic, intellectual and scientific abilities to become a contributor to the advancement of knowledge in physiotherapy.
The MPTS is organized during the first two semesters in blocks of four days (from Thursday to Sunday) at the University College Physiotherapy “Thim van der Laan” Landquart Switzerland with one additional week at the university in Lisbon. The third and fourth semesters are dedicated to the development of the research project and are mostly tutorial based.
Teaching Methods
The teaching methods include: lectures, practical sessions and student-directed learning, seminars, tutorials and laboratory settings. A variety of assessment methods such as theoretical and practical exams, course works, oral and/or poster presentations are used to evaluate the skills acquired. At the end of the program, the student is required to present the results of the research project carried out, after the delivery of the master thesis.
