Evidence based practice is thus important for physiotherapists in order to provide the best possible treatment based on scientific backgrounds requiring a critical understanding of the relation- ship between clinical assessment and the evaluation of thera- peutic interventions. Continuing education at Masters level has become increasingly important to provide physiotherapists with the knowledge necessary to achieve the afore mentioned objective.

This Master course provides the opportunity to develop skills for evaluating and advancing clinical practice. Understanding the principles of scientific research and its practical applications, reexamining own professional convictions, challenging the status-quo being sceptical of current clinical physiotherapy practice implementing positive changes in the workplace, are only but a few of the objectives. The MPTS is focused on providing tools for gaining scientific evidence.

The course runs over two academic years with one additional week at the Technical University Lisbon (Portugal) in July of the first year in order to gain insights in practical experience, assessments and procedures. During the second year, the student will be dedicated to carry out a research project. The course covers research methods, practical experience of assessments and procedures including advanced statistical methods.

Organisation
